About

KCAPS is Kansas City’s local chapter of the Society of Industrial-Organizational Psychology.

History

The Kansas City Applied Psychology Society started in 2008 with a meeting of several KC area applied psychologists who wanted to build the professional community in KC. Since then, the group has met on a regular basis to support career development and develop human capital in applied psychology in Kansas City.

We view Applied Psychology in the broadest sense of people who are using data to make decisions (or consult those making decisions) about people in organizations. Many members of our community have graduate degrees in industrial-organizational psychology (or related fields). Their career paths are often related to consulting, human resource management, leadership, organizational development, and many of the functions related to helping organizations lead employees well. Members also span types of organizations across industries, including academia, government, non-profit, publicly and privately held businesses.

To get involved, contact us or attend an in-person event.
